Liberal Democrats in Edinburgh have stepped up their campaign against proposals for ship to ship transfer of Russian oil on the Firth of Forth.

Under the plans, up to 8 million tonnes of Russian crude oil could be transferred every year, presenting a huge risk to the local environment. Edinburgh Liberal Democrats have already lodged objections to Labour Ministers, who look set to rubber stamp the plans. Lib Dem MP John Barrett has also lodged a motion in the House of Commons, calling for the plans to be scrapped.
