The race to win Edinburgh North & Leith has been confirmed as a two horse race between Labour and the Liberal Democrats after the SNP candidate was forced to admit the area was not an "obvious target" for his party at the next UK General Election.

The SNP candidate, who has been parachuted into Edinburgh North & Leith from another constituency, admitted on his blog that Edinburgh North & Leith was not an obvious target for the SNP. He listed the areas of Dundee West, Livngstone (sic), Kilmarnock and Gordon in Aberdeenshire as "obvious targets". Edinburgh North & Leith was not listed in this list.

The SNP candidate has even been delivering a leaflet where he has been forced to admit the SNP came an embarrassing fourth in Edinburgh North & Leith at the last Westminster election. Political pundits are saying the SNP are focusing on winning Edinburgh East and are leaving it up to the Liberal Democrats to challenge Labour in Edinburgh North & Leith.

The Liberal Democrats came a close second to Labour in Edinburgh North & Leith at the last UK General Election with the SNP back in a dismal 4th place. In last year's Scottish Parliament election, the SNP still came behind Labour and the Liberal Democrats in Edinburgh North & Leith, despite their record success nationally.

At the next General Election, every vote for the SNP in Edinburgh North & Leith will be a vote to help Labour win. Only the Liberal Democrats will be able to beat Labour here. More and more SNP supporters are saying they will switch to the Liberal Democrats to help beat the local Labour MP.
