Polls show local Lib Dem Kevin Lang is set to beat Labour and become our new local MP.

A raft of new opinion polls from leading polling organisations have confirmed that local Liberal Democrat Kevin Lang is on course to beat Labour and become Edinburgh North & Leith's new local MP.

In the last few days, opinion polls released from Yougov, ICM, Ipsos Mori and BPIX have all shown a big swing from Labour to the Liberal Democrats and enough to see the Lib Dems defeat Labour in Edinburgh North & Leith. The Ipsos Mori poll also showed the Liberal Democrats beating Labour into third place nationally, the first such poll from Mori since 1982.

Liberal Democrats came a close second to Labour in Edinburgh North & Leith at the last General Election, with the Conservatives third and the SNP a distant fourth. Political pundits have identified this constituency as a key marginal seat and one of the places to watch on election night.

Kevin Lang said, "There is no doubt that more and more people are switching to the Liberal Democrats. We are the only party providing a real progressive alternative to Labour to build a better, fairer Britain.

"Local people are fed up with Labour's broken promises and a party that has taken them and their votes for granted. With only seven months to go until the General Election, time is fast running out for Labour in Edinburgh North & Leith.

"Liberal Democrats will be fighting for every vote in every part of Edinburgh North & Leith. This is a local campaign the Liberal Democrats can win."
